Kasi Careers Expo expected to draw 3,500

July 2, 2015

OVER 3,500 students are expected to attend the first Kasi Careers Expo for opportunities to either apply for bursaries, internships, learnerships and employment with these companies.

The expo will kick off on Saturday at the Kingdom Care Centre in Thembisa with more than 80 companies scheduled to exhibit.

The expo’s founder, Frans Noko Mashao, who is the executive director of InvesTong Group — the company behind the event — says he saw a gap in the shortage of skills in South Africa and very capable potential employees, and decided to do something about it.

Celebrity DJ Sbusiso Leope, who grew up in Thembisa, will be a guest speaker at the event. Organisations and companies exhibiting include the Sci-bono Discovery Centre, Gauteng’s Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Higher Education and Training, Eskom Rotek & Roshcon.

The expo is scheduled to move to other locations, including Soweto’s Diepkloof Hall, Rustenburg’s Civic Centre and Durban’s Princess Magogo stadium.

The Kasi Careers Expo will target students who do not have access to the internet and information.
